Prompting at save

A

Andrea Harris

I work for the Legislative Data Center in Sacramento
California. On my NT machine, if I opened a base
template (which is located on a network), it would not
prompt me to save.

We have XP and when I open a base template, it is
prompting me to save even if I did not make any changes.

I went tools/options and unchecked the prompt to save
template changes. Is there any other source that could
be causing this problem?

P.S. The base template was created with a Visual Basic
script.

THANKS FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE.

First, don't uncheck the prompt to save changes in normal.dot. This is your
smoke alarm. Although it may be annoying, it can save your system.

Second, you shouldn't be opening a template but rather using it to create a
document based on the template.

Third, the problem is almost certainly in the vb script for your template.
It should contain a line that tells the system that it is already saved. I
don't know why this would be different on an NT system than it is on an XP
system but suspect that it might have to do with your folder permissions
where the template is created.
