Proofing Tools with Office Ultimate

B

BobLemos

I have purchased the Office 2007 Ultimate version. I was told that it would
contain international dictionaries which could be used when typing, for
example, in portuguese.
Do I have the rights to access this information (portuguese dictionary)? Is
it built-in Office Ultimate? Would this proofling tool be available for
Office 2007 ultimate users? Do I realy need to make a purchase of it, if it
only comes with Proofing Tools? If so, where? Can I download it (I'm
currently outside US)
Thanks and best regards

Possibly, but why do you feel entitled to *demand* an answer here?????
This is a peer-to-peer forum. The people who answer questions here do
so voluntarily. We are fellow Microsoft Office users. We do not work
for Microsoft. We do not get paid to answer your questions. We do not
*owe* you answers to your questions. Got it?

That said, the answer to your issue is readily available on the
Microsoft Office website for you to find, if you could be bothered to
look.

Office 2007 is available in 30-something localized language versions.
Each language version comes with proofing tools for a few languages.
For example, the English language version comes with proofing tools for
English, French, and Spanish; the Portuguese(Brazil) language version
includes proofing tools for Portuguese(Brazil), English, and Spanish;
and the Portuguese(Portugal) language version includes proofing tools
for Portuguese(Portugal), English, French, and Spanish.

If the language version of Office 2007 that you have doesn't come with
proofing tools in the languages you need, then you can purchase
additional individual language packs for Office 2007, or you can
purchase the complete Multi-Language Pack for Office 2007. See
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/suites/FX102113661033.aspx "Microsoft
Office Language Packs" and
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/suites/FX101171811033.aspx "Microsoft
Office Language Pack 2007 feature comparison" for more information.
Outside the U.S., visit the Microsoft website for the country you are
in, or contact your local Microsoft subsidiary.

No, you cannot download Office 2007 language packs.

Some users report that they are able to use their Office 2003 proofing
tools in Office 2007. If you currently own Office 2003 with Portuguese
proofing tools, you might try installing those before you buy anything
else.

Geez, G&O, it didn't sound to me like he demanded an answer?
Here's his post:

Sounds like a legitimate question to me.

I gave him a legitimate answer to his legitimate question, but the
portion of the OP's post you quoted is not a legitimate question.

Sure was, he posted a question and got no response so he posted this:

That's a legitimate question and he quoted his original question which
was also a legitimate one.

We get enough idiots posting here, let's save the rebukes for those who
need them (I REALLY miss Miss Perspicacia Tick).

I can't read his post as a demand but rather as hopeful of a solution
and, yes, you did give him the answer to his question but only after a
tongue lashing.

Sorry, didn't want to argue but BobLemos didn't deserve anything other
than an answer IMHO.

Disclaimer: I don't know BobLemos, he may be a good guy, he may not,
that's irrelevant.

Posting in all caps is considered shouting in usenet. Posting long
strings of !!!! and ???? is also considered shouting or conveying a tone
or attitude that was unwarranted in this case. The OP got the reply he
deserved, plus he got the answer to his question.

Actually it's obvious your sole purpose in posting in this thread is to
argue and to inflict your apparently-not-so-humble opinion upon people
who really don't give a hoot what your opinion is.

If you want to post a reply to the OP's question, please feel free to do
so. But nobody died and left you the moderator of this newsgroup, and
nobody needs your empty criticisms.

And I'd be willing to bet Miss Perspicacia Tick would have a few choice
words for you about now.

I disagree, he did not deserve your answer, it's unlike you to behave
as a complete ass.

Wrong again, see above.

She still posts in the Depression group. I cannot believe you miss her... Surely
you still have her email address.

I think I do on my other computer. Yes, I do miss her at times. Sure, she
had a wicked tongue but I also saw a side of her that she didn't let out
much in the newsgroups.

Thanks for the answer, I appreciate it, especially coming from a more
experienced user.
By the way, if you considered a "demand", I am really sorry. That was not
the point, don't be upset. As to regarding typing extras "????", if that
bothered you, even though you used it in your question, again I apologize.
My understanding was that the forum could help novice and dummy users
(although - yes, I did bother to look around the confused MS- web site), and
your answer continues to givre me the faith to believe this is still valid.
Thanks, and best regards

....and she also knew her stuff.

Personally, I found her comments entertaining, there's many times I've
had to agree with her such as:

The only help you need is from an optician. It states very clearly on
the box the required versions - if you cannot read a box, then there
really is no hope for you.

You should have STFW before purchase. You're obviously aware of
Microsoft's website as you found it to post to this group. If you'd
searched for "Office 2003" you'd have found all the information
necessary to make an informed choice - but you were too stupid to do
that, weren't you? Well now your stupidity has cost you a few hundred
pounds. Now you're going to have to waste another couple of hundred
pounds upgrading to Windows XP. But that's what you get for being
stupid.

No shop is going to take back opened software - and especially not when
the purchaser was at fault.

Some things she says are not very nice but... dammit, they NEEDED to be
said!

I'm a fan.
