Properties and hyperlinks

Good morning,

I am using XP and Office 2003. I am setting up an employee directory
database w/ a table that has an email field. I import records from Excel into
a table. Email fields in Excel are set to hyperlinks w/ "mailto:" in front of
all addresses so that when they are imported into Access, I set the field
properties to hyperlink, then they will automatically bring up an email for
that address when their link is clicked on.

I notice thought that the "mailto" is included in the visible link and I
would like only the email address to be visible to a user. For instance, I
would like a user to see "(e-mail address removed)" instead of
"mailto:[email protected]" on their form, but also keep the programming
functionality of the "mailto" command in place. Is there a way I can use a
format, default, or Input mask for field properties to simply display only
the email address in the hyperlink? I know I can manually RC on an email,
goto "hyperlink" and then type in only the email address in the "Text To
Display" box, but all that manual entry would take a long time. I am curious
if this can be done automatically?
Or, what would be VB code so that after I import records, I could run a
procedure or a macro that would maintain the "mailto" function but go thru
each record and set "Text To Display" to only email address? Thanks.

Cordially,
