Properties

Hi,

I have several pages, each presenting one floor with offices and hardware
(PC's, printers, copiers etc).
I managed to change custom properties for each shape, so that I have
properties that I want - Username, Password, Hardware ID, etc.
Now, when I wanted to export those shapes to database, Excel, to be precise,
no property name appeared in a window. I don't know why, cause when I click
Properties on each shape, it shows just the names I put in.

How can I correct this, or is there another way to export all those
information into Excel.

Thanks

No, I don't think so. But I don't use Reports to export it into Excel, but
Export to Database on Tools menu.
Also, when I export to Excel one list of shapes, how can I export another
into a same file, which have the same properties, but are on a different
page. Therefore, I just want to add those properties to the previous ones.

I'd suggest that you select one of your shapes; go to the menu bar select
custom properties; in the menu that appears select define; check to make
sure your properties are there and not flagged as hidden, as the next step.
Finally, once you start requiring that a property be placed in multiple
different sheets in excel you enter the area of requiring custom code.

I did that. But when I select custom properties for the shape, and all those
properties are there, then I select define, and there is nothing showing
anything that properties are hidden. I go then to Export to Database in Tools
menu, but there is no property to export, even though I created 8, by going
to Properties and selecting define. I deleted all existing properties, and
then created the ones I needed.

ok, I just
1. created an excel workbook (testexcel)
2. created an odbc link to the file (remembering to ensure that it is not
flagged read only)
3. opened a blank network diagram
4. dragged a shape to the drawing and updated a custom property
5. went to tools and exported the drawing to the odbc pointer created above
6. verified that the table(worksheet) was created and custom properties were
in it and correct

worked fine....
I am running office 2003 suite and visio 2003 EA
