I'm having a similar issue - I tried to install 3 Office
security updates, but during the installation process,
I'm asked for the original CDs (which I have). When I
click on the 'OK' button, I get a pop-up screen that says
I need to insert the CD that has 'proplus.msi' on it.
I've done searches of both the OfficeXP Small Business CD
and Office XP Media Content CD, as well as my entire hard
drive, and I can't find the dang file.

Help!

Hi Ryan,

Proplus.msi is the main installation file for
Office XP Professional with FrontPage Edition (Proplus)
and with the MS Office XP Developer's Edition.

If you have a different Office Edition CD than
that, see if your CD matches what is listed as
the installed edition of Microsoft Office XP
in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel.
If it is not, then contact the PC supplier for
a replacement CD or backup your files, uninstall Office
and then install from the CD you do have after
restarting.

MS does not offer the ProPlus edition as a
retail package. It's an Enterprise/Volume
license only product.

Well, the plot thickens for my situation. When I checked
the Add/Remove Programs for my computer, it shows BOTH
Office XP Professional with Front Page, AND Office XP
Small Business. I'm curious why - I've never installed
Office XP Professional, so I have no idea why it's there.

Maybe this is something for Dell to ponder....

Hi B.T.,

It may have been installed by 'a friend' <g> or
been pre-installed on your PC when you got it.
If you have the MS Office XP Small Business Edition
CD then you can uninstall the Office XP Professional
(backup your files first) then restart the PC. You
may need to repair/reinstall Office XP Small Business
Edition and you will no longer have FrontPage 2002,
Powerpoint 2002 or Access 2002 with the Small Business
Edition.
