Sheldon

My office XP is up to date. When I go to the Office
update page and scan for updates, I get a box that says
the proplus.msi file is missing. It does not seem to be
on the office XP disks? Can someone please help me???
Thanks....

Hi Sheldon,

ProPlus.msi is the main installer file for
the volume license (nonretail) Edition,
MS Office XP Professional with FrontPage,

Check to see what edition of MS Office is
listed in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control
panel and that your CD has the same edition name on
it. If you're not showing file extensions in
Windows Explorer you may see only 'ProPlus' rather
than 'ProPlus.msi' when viewing that CD.

.
Thanks Bob. I checked the version of Office XP and it
is 10.0.4330.0, the same as the disks that I installed it
from. However, when I try to repair Office XP from the
control panel, it prompts for an alternate path again to
the file proplus.msi. When I try to re-install my
office XP from disks now, it all of a sudden does not
recognize the product key??? What is going on here???

I checked out that link you included and it had some
good info, but it did not tell me how to correct my
problem? When I go to this site to update my office
files,
http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate/default.aspx, I
then click on the "check for updates" under the office
update section at the top. After it starts installing, I
get the error message that it needs the alternate path to
proplus.msi in order to proceed. I can not update my
office files, repair them, or re-install them, as I keep
getting this error message! Please advise what steps I
need to take in order to correct this problem. Thank you
very much for any help in this matter!!!

Hi Sheldon,

Is the name on the front of the Office CD
the same one listed in Add/Remove Programs
in the Windows Control Panel (i.e. do both
say 'MS Office XP Professional with FrontPage'?

You may also be running into this one:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315063
if the copy of Office was installed from a source
other than the CD.

Yes, the name on the office CD and on the add/remove
page is the same. I tried the other link you included
but that did not work out. The proplus.msi file is not
anywhere on my original CD? Any more ideas???
