PROPLUS.MSI

In trying to update my newly purched and installed Office
2003, I get a message that the update software is looking
for "PROPLUS.MSI" and can't find it on my Office 2003 CD
nor on my harddrive! Where do I find this file?

Hi, Dneston,

It's probably looking for your previous (Office XP?) CD. Put that in and
see if that helps.

I had a similar problem with a "missing" wordret.msi
file. The problem sees to come from an earlier
installation from Works or something else which the
OfficeXP installation does not overwrite in the registry.
What worked for me was to use the regedit "find" function
which found a key referring to the "missing" file. I
first exported the key, just in case, and then deleted
it, rebooted and the problem was gone. So long as you
first export the key you could reimport it if the
deletion caused problems with Office but I suspect the
better followup if the deletion causes problems would be
to reinstall Office. Good luck. Sneed
