For those of you searching for the "proret.msi" file while
performing an Office XP update (and failing), you may have
fallen into the same trap I have been dealing with. Try
again.
My computer came with an OEM version of Office XP. When
asked for the original CD-ROM to complete the update, I
grabbed the first unopened CD in the box -- the "MS Office
XP Service Pack 1" and NOT the original version of "MS
Office XP Professional" (a 3-CD set). Your original
software is in the box... go get it.
GO BACK TO YOUR OEM SOFTWARE AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE
CORRECT CD-ROM TO COMPLETE YOUR UPDATE.
Good luck.
