Protect form template using autotextlist field

I have created a form template and have used the text form
field, the check box field, drop down list field, fill-in
field, ask field, and autotextlist field. When I protect
the form template, all is good and I can tab to EVERY
field EXCEPT the autotextlist field. When I right click
on the field and the template is locked, it shows the
autotextlist, but it is shaded and unable to be accessed,
when unlocked, the other boxes can't be used, but I can
use the autotext list. I want to be able to protect the
form, as it is a form over 100 people will be using on
their laptops and most are not computer literate.
Therefore I don't want to have it locked when opened and
then have them unlock to use the autotextlist field.

Can anyone help me please. I have a deadline on this
template and I can't find any help anywhere.
