s there a way to have drop down form fields (or any type of drop down box) on
a document without having it be protected? basically i downloaded the word
pleading paper template and i am trying to customize it. i would like for
the document to have about 4 drop down boxes that i can select from and then
continue on filling in text in the rest of the document. is this possible and
what is the difference between protecting a form and protecting a document?

Hi Benny:

You have to protect for Forms or the form fields can't work.

However, the form fields can be encased in a pair of section breaks (the
section need be only one line high). You can then protect just that section
for forms, enabling the users to type elsewhere.

When you protect for forms, the user can make changes only within the form
fields. When you protect the document, the user can't change anything.

Cheers
