protect individual cells?

i use a form made up of two columns of tables. some of the cells have text to explain the following cell and some of the cells are blank to allow data to be entered. some of the cells have formula that cull information from the data cells.
is it possible to turn on cell protection in the non data entry cells so that i can tab through the table only hitting the data entry cells?

this was easy in word perfect but so far i can't figure out how to do this in word 2000.

Hi Bob,

From the View menu, select Toolbars and check the Forms item. Then you can
insert formfields in the data cells. You then protect the document and then
the tab key will move from one formfield to the next, and the user will
only be able to enter data into the formfields.

Use formfields in the data cells and protect the document for forms.
