Protected actual work??

Hi.
What is the difference between "Protected actual work" and "actual work" in
PWA. and why do I have the "actual work"= zero for new createt Views in
Project center?
I mean in some of the Projectcenter views the field "actual work" shows the
right value. Wenn I create a new view, it si always 0. I have to use the
field "Protectet actal work".
Thanks...

You have configured the project server for managed period in admin>customise
project web access

This also means that actual work is entered through the timesheet (not
directly into Project Professional) ... hours entered through the PWA
timesheet go into protected Actuals and into the actual work

A project manager can edit the actual work field but not the protected
actuals in Project Professional... however, he will be prompted to
synchronise on each save while there is a variance between the two

I am looking at the Actual work values in Project Web Access views now.

Hope this sheds some light ....

I also have the same issue with Actual Work showing 'nothing' in a
newly created view.

I understand that protected actuals are the original hours entered by
the team member. Our work is also entered through the PWA timesheet.
I understand that the hours entered by the team member populate 2
fields: Actual Work and Actual Work Protected.

However, I do not understand why Actual Work hours do NOT show up in my
new custom Project Center view.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thx.
