I manage a customized application in Excel 2003 with its own menu bar. The
core of this application is a user form for data entry. You could always use
the standard keyboard shortcuts for cutting, copying, and pasting, but after
receiving a few requests to add an Edit menu with the Cut, Copy, and Paste
commands, I did so by restoring the standard Microsoft Excel menu options to
a menu on the customized menu bar. The keyboard shortcuts still work, but if
you cut or paste using the commands on the menu, you receive the following
error message:
"The cell or chart you are trying to change is protected and therefore
read-only."
Why can I cut and paste using the keyboard shortcuts but not the menu options?
