Protected form data

When I protect a Word form and send it out, I need to perform certain things
within the document so I unprotect it when it is received back. However I
need to protect the form again, but upon doing so it clears all data in the
form data (user input is now gone). Is there a setting to keep data even
after re-applying the protect form function?

Thanks
Ketta

In Word 2002 and above, you can unprotect and reprotect without resetting
the form provided you use the padlock icon on the Forms toolbar and not the
Tools menu item. For other versions, see
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/MacrosVBA/SpellcheckProtectDoc.htm for the
general idea.

Thank you very much, it is greatly appreciated. I was using Word 2000, I
will just get an upgrade to 2003 like all good Microsoft users should.
