Protected Form not so protected, fields can be removed

I have a problem with a protected form. When the contents of a field is
selected and you type ctrl+delete or ctrl+minus Word 2002 not only removes
the content, but also the field. I removed these shortcuts from the
document, but it seems there are more of these destructive shortcuts.

Is there another workaround to this problem?

TIA, Jacob

Are you sure that the document is protected? Is there an Unprotect
Document command on the Tools menu? If so, you should be able to
remove the contents of a form field (inserted via the Forms toolbar)
but not the actual fields.

Stefan,

Yes it is protected.
Your workaround does not work for me, the user can only fill in the form and
not change the formatting. Except the shortcuts (ctrl+delete and
ctrl+minus).

One more thought (if that doesn't help I hope someone else has a
better suggestion): Does the document have multiple sections? Are you
sure that the problem field is in a protected section?

For general information about forms in Word, see:

blanks”, without doing any programming

Is the FormField really deleted?

I just tried this in Word 2003 and the field loses its shading temporarily
(which _is_ a bit peculiar) but it is not actually deleted - you can still
tab in and out of it and as soon as you type in it, its shading reappears.

You are right Tony, the field is indeed still there. Then maybe the users
manage to remove the form protection, somehow...
