protecting a doc

Trawl the forum: you'll see this question is asked several times a week.
Basically no. You can discourage editing with protected sections, or just
making the document read-only (either through Windows or with a Word
password). Or create a PDF from the document. But all these methods can be
defeated easily by anyone with a mind to do so.

As Jezebel said, any method you can use in Word can be defeated. However,
one that works middling-well is to protect the document for forms with a
password. Tools => Protect document...

Getting around this is relatively easy but most users don't know how.
