Protecting a Word Doc

Shari

Hi,

I need to protect a section of a word doc. I created continuous
section breaks and protected the section that I wanted protected.
However, when I try to edit the header of the document, it doesn't
allow me edit it unless I unprotect the document. I have to send this
document to another company, that is why we protected one part, and
they are the ones who need to edit the header. Is there a way to keep
the one section protected while unprotecting the header...Any info you
can give would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks

No, there is not. Unless both you and the other party have Word 2003,
then you could use the new protection options.

Your only other recourse would be something like having the other party
define a header/footer in an unprotected document, then use a macro to
transfer this information to the protected document.

Please do note that document FORMS protection can be gotten around quite
easily by simply using Insert/File to bring the text into a different
document.
