Protecting text cells in Excel 2003

J

John Sullivan

I am able to protect cells that have formulas in my
worksheet, but I cannot seem to get the text to be
protected, and I have selected that text to be protected
as well. When someone tries to enter a value in a
numerical cell, it is protected. When they try to enter
text into a label in a cell above the numerical cell,
they can write over the text. Please help.

Hi John!

It seems that somehow you have removed the (default) Lock.

Select all your text cells and use:

Format > Cells > Protection
Place check in "Locked"
OK

Then impose protection on the Tools > Protection > Protect Sheet
