Protection in 2003 Unresolved.

Tracey

This previous issue "Protection in 2003 again" was not resolved. I will
restate it.

We have a protected form, which was created in a prior version of Word.
When we open it in Word 2003, unprotect it, edit it, and re-protect it, the
button "Yes, Start Enforcing Protection" is grayed out and not clickable.

As advised in an earlier post, we selected View > Toolbars and unchecked the
menu item Control Toolbox, but this did not fix our problem. Is there a fix
for this?

Thanks,

Tracey

As I stated in your other post to the continuation of the previous
thread...just turning off the Control Toolbox isn't the issue here.
You must make sure you are not in design mode. This icon is on the
Control Toolbox. So did you turn on the control toolbox toolbar and
click the design mode icon to ensure that you are not in design mode?

I haven't been able to follow the thread, since it's so broken up, but
I'm wondering if part of the problem is due to Macro Security. If the
form contains macros and Macro Security is set to "High" which will
force the form to open in Design Mode each time.

Tracey, do you know if there are macros in the form? If so are they
actually being used? If not then delete them. If they are being using
the check Tools/Macro/Macro Security and make sure it is not set to
High.

Note this will not clear up the original issue, the need to use the
Exit Design Mode command on the toolbar as Dian has pointed out. But
this should prevent the form from opening in Design Mode each time you
open the form.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
