Protection of margin

Is there a way to set up a margin that is protected which can only be
edited through code? I want to be able to draw certain things in that
margin. The user should open the document and start typing in the area
that he is supposed to type.

Thnks.

Anything anchored to the header is protected enough for most purposes. The
header layer is inaccessible when typing in the main document layer, which
is sufficient to prevent inadvertent editing or deletion (but not
intentional tampering). Slightly stronger protection would come from
anchoring your drawings to the header, then inserting a Continuous section
break at the top of the document and protecting the first section for forms,
but (a) this protection is easily defeated by a knowledgeable user, and (b)
forms protection for any part of the document greatly reduces functionality
in the entire document. Objects in the drawing layer may be placed anywhere
on the page; they don't have to be confined to the header area.
