protocol used in outlook 2000

what protocol is followed in cw mode for transfering the mail in intranet
in outlook 2000 and 2003?

Outlook 2000 supports only POP3 in CW mode. Outlook 2003 supports both POP3
and IMAP4. Both send mail using SMTP.
