Provisioning 'PWA': error

adept.bobby

I have installed projectserver 2007 and everything went smuthly until when i
tried to create project web access "PWA" in the moss.

I filled all the fields and tried to create webaccess but i keep getting the
error.

Failed - see the Event Log
Provisioning 'PWA': Failed to connect to database ... (provider: Named
Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server).

I have made sure that all the connectivity are enabled and went to the
sql2005 and gave all the userrights to the admnistartor. but still get the
same problem. I really stuck in this problem. any one knows how to resolve
this.
thanks

Hi Paul
Thax for ur reply, thas funny I am aslo project consultant but only
developer. but new in 2007:)

Anyhow, in SQL configuration manager the TCP/IP is enabled both in client
protocols and protocols for sql.

In SQL surface area configuration I changed to local and remote connection
both TCP/IP and namepipes.

I have give what ever imagine of rights in sql to administrator.
I have also shutdown the windows firewall. (there are no firewall but norton
antivirus).
Still nothing work.
I dont know what else to do.

FYI. I have installed only projectserver installation and MOSS was also
installed.

You can use the shared memory protocol if there all on the same server. This
saves the data packets traversing the network layer.

What version\Service Pack of SQL are you using?

It's worth trying to create an odbc connection and telnet to make sure SQL
is listening and responding. When creating an ODBC connection, use the same
account your using to provision PWA.

1) In Sql config The shared is also enabled. I dont if thats what you mean.
If you mean I have to change the setting from TCP to shared somewhere else
that I dont know how to do it.

2) I installed sp2 for sql2005 but it did not help. that was the
latestversion.
3) regarding odbc. I created a odbc and clicked th test connection and it
went with no problem. How do u telnet an odbc connection ? never done that.

Do u think you have posibilty to take look at my server through teamviewer ?
I would really apritiate it.
