PS 2002 Cube Problem

B

Bartolini

Recently, the CUBE build failed.

Following instinct....
I copied everything from the ViewDrop folder to a TEMP folder and restarted
the VMNotify service.

The CUBE was then built successfully.

Normally, when you copy back the XML files from the TEMP folder they
disappear within a minute or less.

I tried that method and nothing is processed from the ViewDrop folder.
I also noticed that the CUBE status will go to, "Cube being built" and stay
there.

The other fact is I do not see any messages in the event viewer.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
~Bartolini

Drop the children in the hopper one-by-one until you find the obstinate
child that refuses to play. Pull it aside and ask why it doesn't want to
cooperate.

Hi Gary-

I tried selecting the little buggers randomly.
Upon each attempt they refuse to disappear as they should.

I find it hard to believe that they are all orphans?
I waited a considerable amount of time unless I was just too impatient?

I will try again.
The fact that I do not see the CUBE builds in the event viewer pass or fail
is spooky too.

Thanks,
~Bartolini

There are no error messages at all pertaining to the cube build.

If I empty the ViewDrop folder and attempt to rebuild the cube, the XML file
shows up as expected and then dissappears as expected. The cube is then
succesfully built.

If I try to add any of the XML files that I moved to my TEMP folder back
into the VIEWDROP folder, they hang there and do not disappear. The VMNOTFY
service takes up 50% of the CPU and will not come back down until I empty the
VIEWSDROP and restart the service.

I did notice about 6 project plans with a (-) hyphen. I am in the process of
have them changed to a more desirable name.

Not sure what to do with all the XML files that are misbehaving?

After you have the project names changed, you'll need to have the PMs
republish the plans, selecting to overwrite actual work, to synch up the
data.
