PS 2003 and PS 2007 compatibility issue

Hi-

A client of mine is running PS 2003 with Proj Pro 2003. He downloaded a
trial version of Proj Pro 2007 to do a feasibility study. Upon removing the
Proj Pro 2007 trial version, he lost functionality in PS 2003. The system
will not allow him to do automatic updates, resource availability charts, or
delete projects/resources with only Proj Pro 2003 installed. When he
reinstalls another trail version of Proj Pro 2007 side by side with Proj Pro
2003, the functionality returns.

We've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Proj Pro 2003 which did not fix
the problem. We also downloaded Proj 2003 SP3 which also did not fix the
problem.

Please let me know if you have any experience with this problem or have any
ideas for resolution.

Thanks in advance,
Beth

Ah, the joys of install experiments on production machines!

As this relates to Project server, best to re-post at the place where
the guru's hang out: microsoft.public.project.server

That being said, this is really a Windows system problem. Clearly the
install, un-install, re-install, etc. has confused Windows about what it
actually is running. I doubt Microsoft fully tested all combinations of
installing, un-intalling, re-installing, etc.

Since you say by putting another trial version of Proj 2007 along side
Project Pro 2003 restores the functionality ... go with that.

Perhaps you can use the "system restore" feature of Windows (available
in XP and beyond, as I recall) to go back to a version of the system
prior to installing the trial Project 2007.

If that unacceptable, or if after the trial period of Project 2007
expires and it no longer works ... I guess I would go back to a full
system backup and restore. Hopefully you have images to do a full backup.
