PS 2003 sample data annoyance

Hi All

I've 'successfully' done a test install of PS 2003 and now I want to
have a look at the sample data. When I try to use the 'restore and
configure sample data' I get a 'pre-validation error' saying 'Microsoft

SQL Server 2000 with service pack 3 must be installed before
configuring the sample database'. I'm using SQL server 2000 with sp4.
Is this a case of PS not recognising sp4 as 'post' sp3 or is something
else wrong?

Cheers

Is SQL on the same box? I think the release notes say it has to be if you
want to use the sample data.

My personal experience was that it only works with SP3 - I had to uninstall
SQL Server, and re-install with only SP3

If you want to avoid that, then you could try the workaround at the bottom of
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/897767/EN-US/
(it is for different cause of the problem - related to named instances of
SQL Server)

I have not tried this though - seemed easier to uninstall & re-install SQL
Server.
Leaving data files in place was OK (though make a copy!)
