PS 2007 Hotfixes

P

PG

John Dalgren suggested we cross post here because our subject really is PS
related even though it relates to ProPro 2007 too.

So, we got the hot fixes -- all of them for ps 2007 and pp 2007 -- and
applied them. There are overlapping articles and fixes. And to answer why --
because we went thru all the KB's on the subject and found our problems. Then
when we asked for hotfixes the physical hotfix often combined several KB's --
thus we found we had to apply each hotfix. We did them in order -- but we are
worried that per the description this may not work. There are no statements
about mutual exclusivity or of cummulative.

We applied the PP2007 fix and it appears to have updated the project pro
correctly and the info shows the same file data as the KB article.

We thought we applied the hotfixes for the server side but we are still
getting problems. How do we check to see if the files in the documentation
match those on our system? We don't seem to find the same file names as the
KB on our system that has our server installed on.

And yes we have a service ticket going to MS too but they haven't been a
whole lot of help.

MS will probably suggest this and I think your best option will be to backup
your databases and do a completely fresh install. Once you have things back
to what they were like before you implemented all the hotfixes, you can
either wait till SP1 is released (hopefully very soon) or get the SP1 beta
which is already resleased.

PG:

For future reference, all hotfixes are cumulative. So, if you have the
latest one, you have everything that preceded it except that Microsoft makes
changes to bundle to correct previous flaws if any are found, until the
bundle becomes a service pack.

If you applied multiple hotfixes, and didn't apply them in release date
order, you can certainly make a mess. This is one of the reasons why
Microsoft has kept these behind the gates until recently. Typically, the KB
article gives you the file information you are seeking, but knowing the
order in which you applied the hotfixes is more important information at
this point.
