PS 2007 install to existing WSS 3.0 How?

Can anyone point me to documentation specifically on installing Project
Server 2007 to an existing WSS 3.0 server in a two-tier farm -- "two-tier
farm" meaning we have one back-end SQL server and one front-end WSS 3.0
server, and we need to install PS 2007 on the WSS server as that is the only
hardware we have.

We have WSS set up where //servername is company main site and
//servername/sites path is for all individual team sites and we want to
retain that, and install PS 2007 to co-exist. I found plenty of PS 2007 docs
on migrating from PS 2003, and on MOSS co-existence, and on how you do not
need to install WSS 3.0 first, but none about adding PS 2007 on top of
already existing, production WSS 3.0.

Thanks,
jremmc

Assuming your system meets MSPS07 requirements, I am not sure that I would
want to risk an existing production server. That being said, if you are
running VMs or have a testbed server, I would not surprised if you were to
get this to work.

Raymond,

What are the issues? I was led to believe that PS can be installed to
existing WSS.

I am not aware of any issues. My comments below are those of a conservative
engineer. That being said, I can hope this helps: I would check that the
existing system meets the requirements listed below.

Good luck with your installation (again, recommend you have the system
backed up or a testbed) and please post the results.

Software Requirements
Office Project Server 2007 has the following software requirements. It is
important to note that since Office Project Server 2007 is built on Windows
SharePoint

Services 3.0, the requirements that apply to Windows SharePoint Services 3.0
also apply to Office Project Server 2007.
Operating System
Office Project Server 2007 runs on Windows Server 2003 with SP 1 or later.
We recommend that you apply all critical updates. You can use the following
Windows Server 2003 editions:
• Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition
• Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
• Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition
• Windows Server 2003, Web Edition
Web Browser
Internet Explorer 6.0 with the most recent service packs or Internet
Explorer 7.0.
Internet Information Server 6.0
You must configure the computer to enable IIS 6.0 and must be in IIS 6.0
worker process isolation mode. This is the default setting in new
installations, however, if you have upgraded from IIS 5.0 on Windows Server
2000, Run WWW in IIS 5.0 isolation mode is enabled and you must change this
setting to use IIS 6.0 worker process isolation mode.
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0
The Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 download installs the required Windows
Workflow Foundation component (Build 4203.2) needed for workflow
functionality.
On the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 download page, follow the instructions
for downloading and installing Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0. There are
separate downloads for x86-based computers and x64-based computers: be sure
to download and install the appropriate version for your computer. The
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 download installs the required Windows Workflow
Foundation components.â€
