PS 2007 relationship to WSS

A few questions on Project Server 2007 relationship to WSS v3. (We will be
new to PS, we do not have PS 2003)

A PS 2007 Technical Library doc on migrating says PS 2007 will automatically
install WSS if WSS is not already installed. Does PS install WSS as a
separate product (where WSS shows up in Add/Remove Programs separately from
PS 2007) or does it install WSS "functionality" (i.e. WSS does not appear in
Add/Remove Programs and uninstalling PS 2007 also uninstalls WSS).

If WSS is installed first and we later install PS 2007 on the same server
(thus PS 2007 sees WSS, adding itself including SSP, from what I gather),
can we uninstall PS 2007 without uninstalling WSS v3? (in case the PS
install goes wrong)

Thanks,

In 2007, Project Server Services, including PWA, run as a shared service in
the WSS 3.0 envelope. This means that the two are inseparable. You can't
have Project Server without WSS. I haven't taken this baby through a full
uninstall yet, but you can certainly remove the services from the Farm
without removing WSS.

As for the "automatically installs WSS" promise, this is partially true. The
installation process is far from automatic with 50 to 60 steps depending on
what and how you choose to install. It's a lot of fun the first few
times!<g>
