PS 2007 - Staging Server vs Production Server

A

Aniket

Hello

We have two servers i.e. Staging and Production. On Procution we are running
MOSS 2007 only and on Staging server we are running MOSS 2007 and PS 2007. We
are working on staging server with PS 2007, for customization, project and
issue tracking etc. Now we want to migrate Project Server Information from
staging server to Production server.

What is the best way to do this?, because I dont want to loose any
production server - MOSS information as it is live site with so many
information, as we are productio site from last more than 1 year without any
problem.

Please advise

The safest way would be for you to accomplish this would be to:

0) Make a complete backup of ALL Production Servers, Databases, etc.,
just in case something goes wrong.

1) Back up the four Project Server databases from the Staging database
server

2) Export the individual workspaces you wish to migrate using STSADM

3) Restore the four Project Server databases to the Production database
server

4) Follow the steps in this article
(http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197558.aspx) to deploy
PS07 to an existing MOSS farm. Please ensure that your versions match
between Production and Staging. When you reach the section entitled
"Provision the Project Server 2007 site on the farm", replace the
default database names with the names of the databases that you
restored in step #3

5) Restore the individual workspaces to the new site collection.

6) In Server Settings - Project Workspaces, ensure that the Workspaces
are reconnected to their correct projects.

7) Test and verify.

HTH!
