PS07-Change Working time for three resources

Ok, he is my dilema:

I have three resources that will work 1/1/09 to 2/28/09 10 hours a day
5-days a week.

Our standard calendar is set to a 8 hour per day, 5day per week calendar.

When I try to set up calendars via Resource Center by selecting the resource
(open with Microsoft Project), double click the resource I want, Change
Working Time, Work Weeks and create a new line called 50 hour work week, I
enter the specific dates, and click on details to set the times --> MS
project crashes. So I then try to go in another way. I go to Server
Settings-->Enterprise Calendars and set up a 50 hour work week Calendar but
for whatever reason the data that I enter regarding the hours does not
retain. It ends up defaulting back to a 8 hr/40 hr work week.

Any suggestions?

EPM Learner:

From my understanding of what you want to accomplish, the appropriate
approach would be to create a new base calendar called 5X10 and then apply
it as a task calendar choosing to ignore the resource calendars when you
apply it to the task. This effectively creates an exception for the
resources to work 10 hour days for that period.

Hi Gary,

I thank you for your answer. It does not seem to be that simple though.
Each time I attempt to create a base calendar it will not retain the
timeframes that I set. It always defaults back to 8:30 to 5:30 p.m.

If I were you, I'd copy the standard calendar to create this new one. If you
have permission to editi calendars in the Enterprise, this shouldn't be a
big challenge, a few minutes to setup. Without knowing the exact steps you
are taking, I can't tell you what's going wrong.
