[PS2007] - Assignment Owner not recognize as Team member

Hi,

I have a project whereby all the tasks are assigned to resources that do not
have login account, so I assign all of tasks assignment owner to one team
member (TM) who will report on their behalf. Everything works fine in PWA but
in sharepoint, I was surprised that TM only have reader access to the project
workspace so he could not create issue or document in the project workspace.

I then assign TM to a task in the project and synchronize the project
workspace before team member access right is given to TM in the project
workspace.

Is this a bug? If I am remember correctly, in projectserver 2003, as long as
a team member is in the built team project list, he will be having team
member right in project workspace.

No, its not a bug. Assignees get the rights to edit a workspace, team
members only have rights to view it - it changed from 2003 which didn't have
the latter rights.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for your reply but I think you did not understand my scenario
correctly.

My scenario is such that:
1) Being assignment owner to a task does not grant you the basic access to
project workspace. Assignment owner has read only access so he could not post
any issues or attach document.

2) Only when the assignment owner has a task assigned to him as resource
before he is granted team member access right to the project workspace where
he could post issues, attach document, etc.

The question is shouldn't assignment owner be having at least a team member
access right in the first place.

Hi,
You could argue it either way, but the assignment owner's duty is to report
on the status of the task, not do the actual work etc.
