I have a master project with 18 projects inserted (subprojects). All was
fine in PWA. I inserted a few more, and PWA Project center gives an error
when trying to open the master project....

Any ideas?

thx.

Is there a way to increase the limit of the timeout period?? or other
solution within PWA??? I have setup a series of tools to feed off of PWA
views, and as much as possible it would be best to stick with the current
solution.... many thx!!

Screenscraping PWA does not sound like a good idea. Why not use the
reporting database? It is not always best to stick to a current solution if
the solution is broken.

We created a view that includes EV calculations. We just happened to use the
'export grid to excel functionality' and then run some VB code to generate
reports the way MGMT wants them (and I will agree with all about MGMT
desires on formatting, etc, etc, etc, BUT).

Can anyone give me information on this "Reporting Database"??? is it an add
on? active x? other product (licensed)? etc. etc. etc.

It just seems silly that an ENTERPRISE TOOL would not be able to handle this
type of load (approx 2,500 lines...) and it is just a view!!!....

Please help. :)

Some more info, other views, especially the ones that came with the system,
work fine on the same master project and all its subprojects. The problem is
mainly when trying to open up to lower levels of detail, for example, the
view will show the master projects and all its inserted subprojects at the
highest level, so it looks like a list of projects (all are hyperlinks), but
when trying to open up to let's say outline level 5, it gives an error after
some time (maybe 1 minute or 2).... other views will open lower outline
levels of the same master/subprojects fine.....

any ideas??

The reporting database is one of the four application database used by
Project Server. It is the data source for PWA views and other reporting
requirements. This is the only database with normalised data and the only
one for which Microsoft have published the schema.

You could use the Reporting Database as a datasource within Excel to query
directly without exporting from PWA first.
