PS2007 OLAP Cube - Path not found

ahelp

We have Analysis Services set up on the default instance of a SQL2005 box.
We're using a SQL db for the repository rather than the Jet db. We've tried
setting the DSO properties in the Mgmt Studio & cut & paste in the ini file.
The SSP account has sufficient permissions everywhere we can find documented.
On a trace in AS, it logs in & out very quickly. The req'd. DSO files have
been installed on the app server as well as the web front end. When we try to
build the cube, we get the following error:
===== Verifying and running pre-build server event handler =====
[5/8/2007 8:40 AM] Verifying and running pre-build server event handler
===== Determining database and cube structure =====
[5/8/2007 8:40 AM] Cube build initialization started
[5/8/2007 8:40 AM] OLAP database and cube structure was determined
successfully
===== Building database and cubes =====
[5/8/2007 8:40 AM] Cube build session started
[5/8/2007 8:41 AM] Analysis Services session started
[5/8/2007 8:41 AM] Analysis Services session failed with the following
error: Failed to connect to the Analysis Services server Hqsql2005dev01.
Error: Path not found
===== Process Completed =====
[5/8/2007 8:41 AM] Failed to build the OLAP cubes. Error: Analysis Services
session failed with the following error: Failed to connect to the Analysis
Services server Hqsql2005dev01. Error: Path not found

There is another post regarding this error and the response refers to
PSComPlus & Conninfo. As far as I can tell these only apply to PS2003.
They're not in the PS2007 directory.

Has anyone else run into this and found a solution?

Thanks,
Mike

Have you installed the following on your app server ?

1. Microsoft SQL Server Native Client (sqlncli.msi)
2. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Objects Collection
(sqlserver2005_xmo.msi)
3. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility Components
(SQLServer2005_BC.msi)

Is SQL at SP1 ?

Yes we have, as well as the XML6 mentioned in some articles. Even put them on
the web front end, just to be sure. It has something to do with the SQL2005
box, as when we pointed to Analysis Services on a SQL2000 box the cube built
successfully. Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
The OLAPService account was the issue. In SQL 2005, there is no OLAPAdmin
group, the equivalent action is to go into Security in Analysis Server
Properties and add the OLAPService account to the server role. The SQL admin
had added the account that was usually the OLAPService account, but it just
didn't happen to be so on that box. Once he added the correct account the
cube built just fine.
Thank you!
Mike
