PS2007 'project application service stopped'

While trying to 'Provision Microsoft Office Project Server 2007' to the farm
I get the following error:

"The Project Application Service doesn't exist or is stopped. Start the
Project Application Service."


Going through operations-services on server, the Project Application service
is stopped. When I try to start it - it 'goes through the motions', but
remains stoped.

I can find no logged error messages.

Anyone have any ideas?

Are you trying to do this on a WFE server instead of the App server ?

I'm using the APP server. No error messages on the server logs or the sql
server logs.

I am having this very same issue and cannot get the project application
service to start. Have you had any luck with a resolution?

My team is having the same problem. Have you received any resolution? We
have completely uninstalled all the Project Server 2007 components (.Net,
WSS, SQL Server, etc) and started again. Once we get to the configuration
stage and attempt to start Project Application Service, it goes through the
motions, but remains stopped. Thanks in advance for any information.
