PS2007: Project Detail page not working with custom fields

Hello,

I have the following problem:

I have a master project with a number of subprojects. I have a Project
Details view that uses custom fields (EV calculations). This view of the
master project with its subprojects in the Project Details page used to work
fine in that it used to render with just the master project, the subprojects,
and expanded subprojects. Also the outline level selection selection worked
perfectly.

At some point it stopped working giving an error that the project was being
published or no permissions etc... but this happened after I went over a
certain number of subprojets (I think it was around 18...). Now the view
opens for the master project with its subprojects, but I cannot expand all
the outline levels... it gives me the error. Also, the same project with the
same number of subprojects works fine if the same view does not have the
custom calculated fields...

any ideas? or anybody know about this? is there a solution??

Hi Mark,

The error is: "Project Center cannot access the project you are trying to
expand. It is most likely that you don'thave permissions to view the
project, another user has deleted the project before you were able to view it
or that another user is in the process of publishing the project".

None of these is true, I have full admin rights, the project is not deleted,
and it is not being published.

Outline levels 0, 1 and 2 work fine because they don't require to expand the
subprojects. Level 3 which would open the subprojects (and all lower levels)
produce the error/message. The same view works perfectly fine for other
master projects with less subprojects (2 or 3). Also this view used to work
fine when the number of subprojects was below 18 I think. I have another
view that has other custom fields to calculate some other things and it has
the same problem but only with this master project that has approx 25
subprojects.

Hi Pedro,

Sorry I have not experienced this before, so I will need to ask some more
questions, Have you tried to access the project details on another PC? also
can you check if everybody has this issue or only your user loggon?
I want to see if the issue is on the project, the user or the PC.

Hi Marc,

I have tried on another PC and I see exactly the same problem.
I have also tried with other user accounts and I get the same problem. I
have had other people do it and they get the same problem.

It happens ONLY when calculated custom fields are included in a view in
project details and ONLY for master projects that have more than X number of
subprojects (I think it is around 18 subprojects...)

Please let me know if you have more questions.

hmmmm Pedro, that sounds like a bug to me. If you only have the issue when
you add the custom fields and dont have this issue when you take the custom
fields off.
Sorry I wish I could help you some more, you may want to consider contacting
the Microsoft support.
