PS2007--Task ID numbers got renumbered

I have a PM that received about 20 tasks to approve/accept for updates. After
approving/accepting them in PWA the PM opened the plan in Project Pro and
noticed all of the tasks that were approved got listed at the top of the plan
and their IDs were renumbered. Does anyone know what might be causing this???

Hi Chris,

havent had this issue. do you only have this issue with one project? if so,
can you have a look at the task colum ID and Unique ID and let me know if
these are the same.
I would assume that the project may be corrup for some reason? Also what
Service PAcks do you have installed?
thanks

Thanks for replying Marc. The Unique ID is different and we are running
service pack 2.

Chris, sounds like the project may be corrupt. I would export the project
into an XML file and re-imported to Project Server to ensure that it may not
be corrupt. Since it is only this one project, I assume that it has something
to do with only this one project and is not a wider issue.
Hope this helps

Thanks Marc. I tried as you suggested and the project plan is still in the
wrong order. So I guess it's corrupt. How does a project plan such as this
get corrupt??? What causes this to happen???

Hi Chris,

that is a good question and I wish I could answer it. There have been some
suggetion that somethimes the project gets corrupted because an empty row has
been added or a Resource has been added to a task that already had actual
work. But overall I am not sure why these corruption happen and I hope that
Microsoft will soon be in a position where that doesnt happen anymore.
Thanks

Interesting. I guess this will be one of those Microsoft mysteries. Thanks
for all of your help Marc. Take Care!!!
