PST File Maximum Size

Am in the processes of trying to change to Outlook 2007 from Outlook
Express and have imported all the folders from outlook Express to
Outlook 2007. When I try to delete an email message in Outlook 2007,
the message will not delete and I get a message that says "File
Outlook.pst has reached its maximum size. Consider using the new
Outlook Personal Folders file (.pst) introduced in Outlook 2003 which
provides greater capacity for storing items and folders." Can somebody
please tell me how to get this greater capacity and be able to delete
emails in Outlook 2007. Thanks.

Something you're not telling us - the default pst created by a new install
of Outlook 2007 IS in the 2007 format - did you have a prior-to-Outlook 2003
version installed at some time?

Yes I had tried Outlook 2003 at least a year ago but uninstalled it
prior to installing Outlook 2007. Have been using Outlook Express for
over a year.

That's not what Gordon asked. He was asking if you had a pre-Outlook 2003
PST (i.e., Outlook 2002 or earlier). The message you received is the result
of one of two things: either you're using an ANSI PST from Outlook 2002 or
earlier and the PST is about 2 GB or you're using an Unicode PST, a FAT32
file system and the PST is 4 GB.

Yes it is possible that I tried Outlook 2002 or earlier at least three
years ago but all I have installed now is Outlook 2007 and Outlook
Express 6.

So, look at the properties of the PST and read which format it is.
Right-click the root of the PST in Outlook, choose Properties, click
Advanced, and examine the Format field.
