PST file size

Hi All !

My original pst file size was appr 151MB. I created a new PST and
moved around 100 MB of files to the new PST. Naturally, the size of the old
PST should be appr 50MB.

Right click on the old PST within Outlook > Folder Size gives 50 MB,
however the size of the PST when viewed from Windows Explorer is still 151
MB. I tried closing & re-starting the Outlook application, however nothing
seems to work. Windows Explorer still shows PST size as 151 MB

You need to compact the pst. You can do that from within Outlook. Click on
Tools, Options, then click on the Mail setup tab. Click on Data Files. Click
on Settings, then click on Compact Now.

What happens to the pst and why it grows is due to the fact that when you
recieve mail and then delete it, it just leaves a "hole" in the file.
Compacting works sort of like degrag does for a pst file.

Hope it helps!
