PST File Transfer or Synchronising?

What is the general recommendation over this?

My main desktop system houses the PST with all e-mails and I want to be able
to synchronise some of the e-mails in selected folders from a certain period
to the PST on my laptop, and then visa versa when returning to the office and
using the main system.

Does anyone have recommendation?
