PST file

I'm running Windows XP-Pro and Outlook 2007. My PST file always shows errors
so I have to run scanpst 3 or 4 times to clear up the errors. Everytime I use
Oulook and shut it down I have to run scanpst again 3 or 4 times as it always
has errors. File size is 146.833kb. Is there a fix where I don't have to
constantly check the PST file and run scanpst every day?

Sounds like you have something severely wrong with your computer setup
that is hosing Outlook. Are there add-ins that are keeping Outlook open
even though the Outlook icon disappears when you close it? Task Manager
"processes" will show OUTLOOK.EXE still running after it disapears from
"Applications". Or you have a hard drive issue. Run chkdsk on the drive,
and or the drive manufacturers diagnostics utility.

sounds like the pst file is corrupt, and running scanpst isn't really fixing
it. I'd re-create the profile/account.

Tried that already. Re-created another PST file with export and import
calendar, contacts, email, etc.

When I exit Outlook it still shows the icon in the task manager for a minute
or two.

That's expected. After the icon goes away there should no longer be any
OUTLOOK.EXE process in Task Manager.

Export/import always loses data. That's not the best way to transfer PST data
from one Outlook instance to another.

Please explain the best way.

Do I use backup and restore or export the individual folders? Thanks

Did you read the web page? export/import do not make faithful backups.
Simply copy the PST with Outlook closed to make a backup of it.

Check your pst file and make sure it isn't broken or too big.You can try a tool called Advanced Outlook Repair. You can download a free demo version at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/aor.exe . I think it is a useful repair tool for you. It is easy to recover your PST file by using its wizard. It is a powerful tool to recover messages, folders and other objects from corrupt or damaged Microsoft Outlook PST files.

Detailed information about Advanced Outlook Repair can be found at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/
