PST files and offline Folders

H

Houman Yahyaei

Can a .PST file be made available offline :

For example : if my document is redirected to a server and user's PST file
is in "my document", Outlook translates the "my Document" to the actual UNC
\\server\share\, and hence Outlook won't work if user is not connected to
network...

Is this true, and is there a way to get around this !!!
Thanks !!!

No. Only certain file types are made available offline and a PST file is
not one of them.

If you are using Exchange then you should use Outlook's "Offline Folders"
feature to create an OST file. However, it doesn't sound to me like you're
using Exchange.

I would advise against using PST files at all unless you are a really really
small business.

By the way, this question isn't related to Office Setup or Windows 2000
Setup (setup here means running the setup program and installing the
product).

Some appropriate groups for your question are:
microsoft.public.outlook.general
microsoft.public.win2000.file_system
