.pst files in Outlook 2000

My boss has an Outlook 2000 .pst file almost 1 GB in
size. I have archived a lot of emails, but the .pst file
size stays the same. Will 196890 address the issue?
Is there a limit to the .pst file size?

Hi There,

Each .pst file can contain 16,384 items. An item is either a folder,
message, task, etc. Each folder can contain a maximum of 16,384 items. If
you select the "Allow upgrade to large tables" option, each folder can
contain up to 65,536 items. The total file size of a .pst cannot exceed 2
gigabytes (GB).
