PST files on servers... problems

"... Microsoft does not officially support placing .pst files on a server

Can anyone provide something like an article (on MS KB?) to which i can
reference (and reasons) for why this will happen (reference is more
important)? I tried to search it out through MS Knowledge Base with no luck.
This would really help me make a case.
