PST files synched

I have PST files that are synched (currently using a "briefcase") across
multiple computers (currently manually, as I have to initiated the synch). I
would like to have these PST files (in one folder) synch using Groove. From
what I understand, I can just point to the folder, set it for synching, and
away the synching goes. Problem is that to use PST's, I have to tell Outlook
to go find them somewhere. How do I have a program like OL find a file
within the Groove synched folder (not the original, which I set to synch
across), but the copy that results on the computer to which it is synched
(which I assume will be in a Groove file tool)?

Thx.

Maybe I misunderstand your question Boris, but when you sync a
directory/folder with groove you select where to put it in the filesystem on
your "target" machine, e.g. c:\temp. That way you should be able to just go
ahead and point Outlook to that location.

Another issue is how this works with pst files in particular since I believe
they are locked by Outlook, but if you are already syncing using briefcase
you probably already have that figured out.

Be aware that pst files are disabled from syncing by default so you need to
go into groove sync properties for your folder and change that.

Got it. I was afraid to try before asking. So if I understand correctly,
when I select synch for a folder, it'll give me the option of selecting TO
WHERE I'd like it synched? Does that mean that it needs to see the other
computer on the network while I do it, so that I can go find the folder to
which the one I'm synching will be directed?

Thx for the further clarification.

Hi Boris,

You understand correctly. But you don't push it out to the other computer
but pull it down from the computer you want to sync to.

Unless you have a Groove server I *think* both computers have to be turned
on (with Groove running) when you set up the synchronization. I *know* both
have to be on when you do the actual syncing of files.
