*pst files

I use Outlook 2000 primarily for contacts (names,
addresses, etc), which are categorised.
Before upgrading to a new computer I backed up "Contacts"
as a *pst file - which exists on my hard disk.
Try as I may, thought, I cannot restore it (importing
doesn't help). Any ideas. Thanks.
