pst: import of the back-up - the sent mail folder is completely em

I needed to reinstall Vista, so, using the (.pst) export file wizard, I
backed-up a copy of my Outlook 2007 file.

I reinstalled vista and Office 2007 and the only content I can access in
Outlook are the Inbox and the sub folders. There are no contacts/calendar
detail - which I'm not too concerned at.

However, all the content from sent mail is missing - the folder is empty -
does a .pst backup not include the sent mail?

If the backup should include the sent mail, how do I access them? I've ran
the repair tool but it's made no difference?

Why would you export to create a PST file? You lose data by exporting, as
you have demonstrated again to everyone.
You already had a PST file. Open that file in Outlook.

Due to some malicious software I needed to re-format the drive and reinstall
the OS. I backed-up all my data and docs and believed that exporting the pst
to my backup drive would save my data.

Exporting is in no way a backup. It is only used to convert Outlook data to
another format. Exporting Outlook data to Outlook data ensures you will lose
data, most of it from end user error--like yours, where you failed to export
all the folders within your file.
If you have no good backups of your data file, your data is lost.
I would encourage you to read the daily posts we make here on how you
transfer or backup Outlook data reliably. I don't understand the very common
misperception people have that they must export their Outlook data. Did you
export your Word documents or your Excel spreadsheets? Of course not. You
just saved them. Same with Outlook. Save your data. Do not export your data.
Ever.

It may still be possible to recover your deleted PST file.

Let me know if you are interested in that option.
