PST problems

I'm running Windows 200 Pro and Outlook 2000 and have just hit the 2
gigabyte 'glass ceiling' of the outlook PST file. Unfortunately the utility
Microsoft recomends on thier website completely FOBARs up the file. It has
also deleted everything from the past 7 days, with the exception of three
spam messages.

Does anyone know of a better way than this to recover my information? And
does anyone know if it's possible to run outlook with more than one PST
file, so you don't hit that 2 GIG limit? Or is it just a case of deleting
mail records as you go? Or other...?

You can certainly use multiple .PST files. Just add them as Personal
Folders. I do this to keep old emails around accessible to Outlook, while
getting them off the server, and "archiving" them to my local hard drive.

The .pst crop tool is the only tool to crop some items out of your .pst
file. You can run multiple .pst files but I would first recommend emptying
your deleted items folder, save attachments to your hard drive, archive your
sent items folder for starts. Then, set a reasonable archive interval, say
2 months and archive religiously.
