PST shrinks before the eye !

Hi, I don't kknow if anyone has seen thas problem. I have
a user who has Outlook 2000, with delivery setup for
Exchange server. He has a pst for archiving his emails.
Last friday, that pst started to shrink wile is outlook
was open. If you look at the pst file in explorer you
would see the size of the file reduce before your own
eyes. It went from 160mb to the 32k size of an empty pst
file.

If anyone has a clue of what could cause that, please let
me know.
