pub 2000 or another DTP program

I have been using publisher since version 1 in windows 3, I am now using pub
2000 and I have been told I need to upgrade to pub 2003 in order to handle
the large files that I now have with my digital camera and my art work
files.

Rather than pay for an expensive upgrade, I was wondering if anyone has
tried any other DTP program and how they compare to publisher, I would like
to try something else out as it will be expensive for the pub upgrade anyway
so i may as well look around.

Try out Serif PagePlus. You can download a free copy from
http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/. It's not the latest version, but it will
give you an idea if you like the package. Other programs from Serif are also
free at that web site. www.serif.com is the site to order the latest
versions. Hint: call the number shown "store/order direct". They'll usually
give you a better price if you ask for it.
