Hello.
We have about 16 email enabled public folders shared between three users.
Each user has two computers that they have their Outlook profile on. For some
reason, the public email folders don't always sync correctly in the users
Outlook. We know this because we can see a discrepancy between the different
system in folder content and if we right-click on the folder in question and
select the Synchronization Tab, we can see a difference between the off-line
folder and the server (if there is a difference its that there are more
messages on the server). We can temporarily resolve this issue by either
clicking on the general tab and selecting clear offline items and then doing
a send/receive, using the ScanOST app or by deleting the OST file and
rebuilding it. None of these fixes offers a permanent solution.
We have tried deleting and recreating profiles as well as lowering the size
of the email folders but nothing seems to help.
One the issue occurs, sometimes an error is logged into the Outlook Sync
Issues Folder and other times it is not. When an error is shown it looks like
this...
10:32:17 Synchronizer Version 11.0.8000
10:32:17 Synchronizing Mailbox '******* *****'
10:32:17 Synchronizing full items in folder '*** ********'
10:32:18 Error synchronizing folder
10:32:18 [8004010F-501-0-E60]
10:32:18 The client operation failed.

10:32:18 Done
I have carried out searches for this error message and have found nothing
except for one hit on Google groups but this was in Taiwanese which,
unfortunately, I do not understand.
Does anyone have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
FYI, the server is running SBS 2003 SP1 with all the latest updated applies
including Exchange 2003 SP2. All our Outlook/Office installs are also running
with the latest updates including SP2. Some of the Outlook clients are
connecting via RPC over Https and others over TCP/IP within the local LAN.
Thanks.
